Outreach at Lawrencefield Parish Church

St. Luke’s Sunday Soup Kitchen

As part of the Wheeling Cluster (Local association of Episcopal parishes) Lawrencefield supports the Soup Kitchen at St. Luke’s on Wheeling Island. St. Luke’s Soup Kitchen operates on Sundays when other soup kitchens are closed. Lawrencefield is responsible for providing food and serving lunch the second Sunday of each month. Parishioners take turns providing this ministry.

Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets

Each holiday season, Lawrencefield takes up special collections of food and cash for the preparation of meal baskets for area residents in need. Baskets are custom-prepared by Lawrencefield parishioners according to the number of children and adults in the household.

Faith in Action Caregivers

Faith in Action Caregivers, Inc. supports the independent living of older adults and people with disabilities through the shared ministry of faith communities in Ohio, Marshall and Belmont Counties. Lawrencefield is a member congregation, and several of our parishioners are trained caregivers.

Adopt-a-Highway Clean-Up

Four times a year, a Lawrencefield work force picks up trash along the entire length of Table Rock Lane in cooperation with the West Virginia Department of Transportation's Adopt-a-Highway program.

Polling Station

Lawrencefield Parish Church makes facilities available to Ohio County for use as a polling station on Election Day.

Rector's Discretionary Fund

A monthly collection supports this fund, which in turn helps to support local organizations that directly assist Wheeling residents, particularly The House of the Carpenter, the YWCA, and Laughlin Chapel.

Food Pantry Donations

Lawrencefield Parish Church collects canned goods and non-perishables for distribution to local food pantries.

Meals on Wheels Desserts

In support of the local Meals on Wheels organization, Lawrencefield parishioners provide cookies to accompany meals delivered. Our specialty is providing Hot Cross Buns during Holy Week.
